The web community was freaked this holiday weekend when Google’s logo showed a UFO abducting Google’s second O.
Speculation was that Google has intercepted an extraterrestrial search query, and that the logo’s appearance may foreshadow an impending visit from beyond. A more conventional, but less romantic, view is that Google was paying homage to the anniversary of the Voyager 1 mission.
Further mystery abounds, as a click on the Google logo linked to a search for the term “unexplained phenomena.” Google offered a clue on its Twitter page, providing the message “1.12.12 25.15.21.18 15 1.18.5 2.5.12.15.14.7 20.15 21.19″. If you swap those numbers for the corresponding letters of the alphabet, you get the message: “All your O are belong to us”.
Should somebody be more closely supervising the Google weekend crew?

I agree with Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. when he said, “I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can’t see from the center.” Then again, maybe I’d like “going over.”
