Crude calculations and images

Images on TV and the internet continually tick off the number of gallons of crude oil leaking into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Yet the numbers are quickly becoming unfathomable to us in our daily lives. We have no reference point for tens of millions of gallons, except to know that’s a lot of oil.

To put the figures in perspective, we need it brought closer to home for us. Well, that’s exactly what  you will find at IfItWasMyHome.com. Click aboard, enter the name of your city and state on the top left, and you will see a map of your area with the oil slick (to size) superimposed across your neighborhood.

Graphic and startling. Expletives acceptable.
